Ones that I don't consider "One Hit Wonders"

Better than Ezra - Good (They had many other hits. "King of New Orleans" & "Desperately Wanting" being a couple)

Candlebox - Far Behind ("You" was a hit if I remember correctly. I play it on my station.)

Caroline Spine had "Attention Please"

Fort Minor had a huge hit with "Remember the Name"

Spins Doctors had "Little Miss Cant Be Wrong"

Sponge had "Plowed"

Tonic had a few other hits. "Open Up Your Eyes" & "You Wanted More" are the ones I can think of.

Now onto the additions.

Sugarcult - Pretty Girl (The Way)
4 Non Blondes - Whats Up
Bodeans - Closer to Free
Del Amitri - Roll to Me
Joan Osbourne - One of Us (Alternative..Depending on who you ask)
Concrete Blond - Joey
Gravity Kills - Guilty
James - Laid
Local H - Bound to the Floor
Mad Season - River of Deceit
Meat Puppets - Backwater
Screaming Trees - Nearly Lost You
Unwritten Law - Seein' Red

I think that should improve your list. Other than the ones above, you nailed it my friend :)

Yeah I was wondering about Fort Minor, Spin Doctors, Tonic, Sponge and Candlebox as well Candlebox only gets like 2 songs played, so I had to google them and I'm cutting it from the list they have a lot of hits. The hard part was there was a lot of bands that are like 2 hit wonders. Tonic for me being one of them "You Wanted More" being on the American Pie soundtrack and Sixpense None The Richer (which I decided not to add here),

About your additions: Sugarcult had other hits with "Bouncin' Off The Walls" and "Stuck In America". "She's The Blade" I remember being on my ipod back then as well, Highly Recommend "Los Angeles" it's catchy as hell but it never charted.

Gravity Kills - had Goodbye, One Thing, and Enough.

James has 5 hits "Come Home", "She's A Star", "Sit Down", "Laid", and "Born Of Frustration"

Local H, I'm from Chicago, so I hear their music all over the place, they had way more than 1 hit. Why aren't you playin' "All Right (Oh Yeah)", "Half Life", and "All The Kids Are Right"? Granted Chicago plays anything these guys release, because support local bands.

Meat Puppets had Lake Of Fire, but I see your point here.

Unwritten Law had: "Cailin'", "Lonesome", "Up All Night", "Rest Of My Life", "Save Me", and "She Says"

Agree with the rest of your thoughts. THANKS!!!

And if you get a chance, check out "Hit That Switch" by Crazytown. I played it on my show when that came out, not a bad track. But still agree they are a 1 hit wonder.

I also was wondering about Kazzer - Pedal To The Medal. Because that is done by the singer Redlight King under his original name, it was when rap-rock was a hit genre. I think it might be a good idea to drop it from the 1-hit wonder status. Thoughts?

I was wondering when that would come up. I first used chart position. if the song ended up on charts somewhere, not necessarily national. a few of these Sweet Water, Shooty'z Groove are regional, and Ammonia and Goodshirt are actually Australian 1 hit wonders. Although Ammonia at least was marketed here at the time but I doubt it made much impact. Feel free to amend those if you want. I liked playing some of these global hits. But for the most part, it's chart position, and if a band is mostly known for a particular song that charted high and no other song they recorded did then I added it here.

For Squirrels - Mighty K.C.

I think I should add. although it was a minor hit on alternative rock radio.

Good list. Some other songs from these bands that were 'hits' to me, though maybe with limited (minimal?) chart success:

Belly "It's Not Unusual" [Tom Jones remake]
Airborne Toxic Event "Changing" [played on Sirius Alt Nation]
Chumbawumba "Amnesia" This was played on KIIS-FM, L.A.
Hives "Try It Again" [big on Sirius Alt Nation]
Kongos "I'm Only Joking" [limited play on Sirius Alt Nation]

Would you consider two newer entries:
Cigarettes After Sex "Apocalypse"
Barns Courtney "99"

And one minor typo: "Gnarls" Barkley

Reason I put Belly on the list, was actually VH1 called it a one-hit wonder in a TV special back in the 00's called 100 Greatest 1 Hit Wonders of the 90s. I would argue, "Gepetto" is their 2nd hit, and it gets airplay here in Chicago occasionally. I have not heard their cover of "It's Not Unusual" either on radio or elsewhere, I will have to check it out.

With Airbourne Toxic Event, I'm on the fence actually, they have had chart success with a few other singles, "Changing" included.

Chumbawumba's 2nd hit "Amnesia" I knew about, and I included them because "Amnesia" was only a minor hit and they really haven't had much success here in the states since. In the UK they had other songs though.

The Hives, if you check the charts, they only had big success with "Hate To Say I Told You So" and "Walk Idiot Walk", and "Tick Tick Boom", most people know of those tracks and not much else. The first 2 I mentioned, are the highest charting singles. I guess, technically you could call them a 3 hit wonder. I know other bands are like that (2-3 hit wonder) on this list as well.

I agree with Kongos, and that is their 2nd hit. Again, I'm including them because of the 2 songs, if you ask the public, "Come With Me Now" will come to mind, but it might be a big stretch that "I'm Only Joking" will come to mind. which is why I included them.

Barns Courtney, I think is still too young in their career to be a 1 Hit Wonder. First album was only 3 years ago, and second was 2 years ago. Same with Cigarettes After Sex, too young in their career.

But I agree, and this list is fluid, and I was trying to include songs from the past decade because music has changed since, and 1 Hit Wonders needs to be updated. I respect your opinion! Thank you for contributing, I want EVERYONE to contribute, because I think in order to come up with an update to this list we need a "majority" vote consensus on this, and debates are welcomed! For the longest time I was checking the internet for "One-Hit Wonders" lists and most of them stop at the 90s. A few jump to the 00s, but almost no one has done the 10's yet.

From my knowledge, and please correct me if I'm wrong, most 1 hit wonders have 2-3 other songs that have been played. The "Big Hit", the "Follow up" and then either the "Cover Song" and/or "Christmas/Holiday" track and that's about it.
