I'm with the previous poster. AKG's are also good. Sony -- ick.

Thanks for the feedback. In 12 years I've broken many a pair simply because of how we use them. On and off a lot. I'm a lifer with this, want a pair I can keep for A While. In case you find yourself looking I've been studying Beyer Dynamics as of late.
Thanks again.

Headsets used everyday... are simply going to wear out. I agree with danmac in that the SONY MDR-7506 is a solid performer, however it depends on an individual's hearing. What sounds good to one person, sounds like broken bongos to another. Just be prepared to repair or replace a headset at least every 2 years. Check with music equipment stores, compare, buy what works for you, and write it off your taxes.

I bought earbuds, they were Sony and used them when I did a show for a few years, I got tired of sweating under regular cans. I wanted to get some stethoscope headphones like Imus but could never find them, I think they were special made by Sennheiser. I love the earbuds, they sound better than any cans I ever bought. Plus, I can take one out and hang it from my shirt neck and chat in studio until it's time to go back on air. If you are on a budget, give them a try.I used the MDR-E818LP and the MDR-E829V models. I never spent more than $20 and each one lasted more than 5 years. I just bought a second pair because now I do VO at home and don't need all the bass, so the wife uses the old ones to jog with. Good luck!

I have went through quite a few pairs over the years. I loved sony's for so long. Then I tried Earbuds top of the line but no that was no good. Then I broke another pair of Shure Headphones. The guy at the store told me to get audio-technia ath-m45. I was like they look cheap. I bought them over a year ago and they work great. NOTE: don't forget the replacement warranty.

When I got out of full-time radio in 1994, I had a pair of AKG K-240's...always sounded great, durable and never let me down....and when I got back INTO radio in 2010, the station bought me the same ones, at my request. Still great sound and going strong. Love 'em
