B96 In Minny Becomes NOW ... Yawwwwwwwwwwn!
B96 In Minny Becomes NOW ... Yawwwwwwwwwwn!
Ok so there was a name change and the jocks were dumped ... big freakin deal.
This is another case of a radio's "turd in a box" theory. Not saying B96 or NOW is turd (just using the word for a visual example) -- but, if you just change the packaging and really don't change the product when you open the box the same turd is there. The new tower will not make a difference.
You get the point?
The jocks at B96 were really pretty good and didn't deserve to be fired. And now they are on the sidelines -- and morning man Tone E. Fly is very talented, and he will return, most likely in afternoons.
But under Radio One the die for mediocrity was cast at B96 long ago, and it continued under local ownership, Northern Lights. And continues today with a new moniker, NOW.
Despite all the shortcomings of crosstown owner Clear Channel, you can't take away anything from the brilliance and competitive nature of KDWB's PD, Rob Morris. He's the reason KDWB continues to win, and NOW has no real shot.
